Border Terrier

  • The border terrier originated on the border of England and Scotland in the 1860s. The typically small dogs have coarse long hair and are red or tan with a darker muzzle. The breed was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1930.
  • Health Problems

  • Sports or Activities

    Border terriers can be shown professionally or entered into agility competitions. They do not require as much exercise as other breeds and can conform to the lifestyles of their owners. They are also typically gentle and recommended for homes with small children.
