Boost Mobile is an Irvine, California based subsidiary brand of Nextel. It originally launched in Australia in 2000. In 2001 the brand expanded to New Zealand. Peter Adderton and Craig Cooper brought Boost to the United States in 2001 through a partnership with Nextel Communications. In 2003, Nextel purchased 100% of the American division of Boost Mobile. The Boost brand is markets mainly to the teen and young adult demographics, and is known for using celebrities in its commercials. Boost is also known for its catchy slogan "Where you at?"

On October 29, 2009 Sprint Corp. owner of subsidy Boost Mobile Inc. Announced it had added over 400,000 new subscribers to the pre-paid phone service. http://newsreleases.sprint.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=127149&p=irol-newsArticle_newsroom&ID=1348150
Even more notable Boost Mobile announced pre-paid subscribers now had access to *call waiting*, a feature not previously available on the iDen based wireless cellular service.
