Boondock Saints, A violent crime drama, tells the story of fraternal twins Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Murphy (Norman Reedus) McManus who, after receiving a message from God, embark on a vigilante killing spree to rid Boston of evil while being pursued by FBI agent Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe.) Despite being shown on only five screens in the U.S. for a week upon its release and receiving negative reviews, the film enjoyed success through DVD sales and has developed a large cult following. Writer/Director Troy Duffy was inspired by personal experience to write the screenplay and became the subject of Overnight (2003), a documentary film about the making of The Boondock Saints.
Boondock Saints II: All saints day will be released on October 30, 2009.
