Bookshelf

A Bookshelf is a piece of furniture or wall attachment that is used to store books. It has one or more horizontal shelves.
History:

When books were written by hand only the wealthy could afford them. Storage was not a problem as many people only had a few. Those who had many books stored them in cupboards. Over time the cupboard doors were removed. Without the doors the cupboards resembled the bookcases we know today.
