A book trailer is a relatively new concept for advertising and marketing books to readers. While primarily used to market and promote fiction novels, some book trailers are also created to sell nonfiction and instructional novels too.
Book trailers are similar to movie trailers, showing video or still images, music, words and other visual / audio effects to depict what the book is about, designed to entice the reader to make them want to purchase and read the book.
Trailers for books are similar to trailers for movies. the actual term 'book trailer' is trademarked by Circle of Seven Productions, but making trailers for books can be done by anyone with the skill to create the video advertisements to entice readers to buy and read certain books.
Trailers for books are created using video editing software, video footage or still images (often using stock photographs), along with original or stock music or music used with permission. The music and video or photo footage is synched with music to portray the plot of important features of the book.
