  • NBA Career

Bonzi Wells was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 1998, but was immediately traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. Wells played well enough to be named co-captain with Rasheed Wallace, but his numerous off the court incidents tarnished his Wells' reputation and added to the "Jail Blazers" nickname at the time. After a playoff run in 2003, the Blazers traded Wells to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Wells has had brief tenures with the Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and Houston Rockets. While playing for the Rockets, Wells failed to show up for a road trip, citing that he felt he was disrupting team chemistry. Despite returning to the Rockets, Wells was traded to the Hornets on February 21, 2008.
