Bonnie was trained in ballet when she was a little girl, but her parents guided all of their children into the acting profession. Bonnie was discovered in a school production of Tom Sawyer. At the age of 9, she was cast in a 1957 production of Dr. Praetorius and was also handed a full scholarship to study at George Balanchine's New York City Ballet.
