Bone is a popular independent comic book series that tells the saga of three cousins and their epic adventure in a mysterious valley.
-
Main Characters
- Fone Bone: The comic's protagonist, Fone Bone is the most level headed of the three Bone cousins. Fone is enamored of Thorn Harvestar and often finds himself in dangerous situations because of this.
- [[Phoncible P. "Phoney" Bone|Phoney Bone]]: Phoney Bone is the manipulative, greedy older cousin of Fone and Smiley Bone. Formerly the richest Bone in Boneville, Phoney was exiled from the city after a botched mayoral bid.
- Smiley Bone: Smiley is the tallest Bone cousin. A simpleton, Smiley tends to have the biggest heart of the three Bone cousins as shown through his care for an orphaned rat creature named Bartleby.
- Thorn Harvestar: Initially thought to be a simple farm girl Thorn learns, over the course of the series, of her noble legacy and special "veni-yan-cari" abilities. Fone Bone has an unspoken crush on Thorn.
- [[Rose "Gran'ma Ben" Harvestar]]: The tough-as-nails grandmother of Thorn. Early in the series Gran'ma Ben is shown to be a farmer who is famous in the valley for her cow-racing skills. Later, it is revealed that she is the former Queen of Atheia.
- The Great Red Dragon: An ancient dragon who has existed since the dawn of time, when the dragons ruled the land. Throughout the series he steps in at the last minute to save Rose and the Bone cousins from certain death.
- Roque Ja: A giant mountain lion and self-proclaimed guardian of the Eastern Border, Roque Ja views himself as being neutral in the conflict between the Lord of the Locusts and the Humans. Despite this he proves himself to be a significant adversary to Fone Bone and his companions.
- Kingdok: Kingdok is the king of the rat creatures, a race of hairy, primitive rat-like beasts who are the main enemies of the Humans. He allows himself to be manipulated by the Lord of the Locusts in his effort to regain power in the valley.
- Hooded One: A servant of the Lord of the Locusts and the main antagonist of the comic. It is later revealed that the Hooded One is a resurrected Briar Harvestar, Gran'ma Ben's younger sister who was killed for betraying her family.
- Lord of the Locusts: An amorphous dark lord and, in an effort to free himself and rule the valley, the main orchestrator of the events in the series. He is described as a "nightmare" and has existed since the dawn of time.
