Boise State University was originally founded as by the Episcopal Church as Boise Junior College back in 1932. Today, Boise State, located in the state capital of Idaho, is a full accredited state university offering over 200 different degrees in over 190 different fields of study.

Boise State sustains eight colleges to house 46 masters degrees and 94 baccalaureate degree programs. These include: Applied Technology, Arts and Sciences, Business and Economics, Education, Engineering, Graduate Studies, Health Sciences, and Social Sciences and Public Affairs. Boise State holds national and international jazz performance events three times a year as part of the Gene Harris Jazz Festival. The campus site is located on land that was used originally by Walter Varney as he founded United Airlines. For many, Boise State has become known through their football program and their home field that features a uniquely colored blue turf.
