  • The Boise State University football team plays college football as a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Known as the Broncos, the team plays their home games at Bronco Stadium on campus in Boise. It is one of the most identifiable fields in all of sports because, unlike other fields that are green in color, the field at Bronco Stadium is blue. The team has won 14 conference championships, the most recent in 2008, following a perfect 12-0 season.

After completing the 2008 season with an undefeated 12-0 record, the Broncos fell to the TCU Horned Frogs, 17-16, in the Poinsettia Bowl on December 23, 2008.ESPN.com: Boise State Broncos Vs. TCU Horned Frogs Box Score, December 23, 2008

  • Building the Program

  • Three Trick Plays Stun Oklahoma

Boise State had a magical season in 2006, and were extended an invitation to play in the Fiesta Bowl against Big 12 powerhouse Oklahoma. Trailing 35-28 and facing a 4th-and-18, the Broncos scored a touchdown on a hook and lateral pass play to send the game into overtime. After a quick score by the Sooners, Boise managed to get inside the five-yard line and scored on a halfback option pass. Trailing by one, they went for two and scored the conversion when Johnson took a handoff from Zabransky on a Statue of Liberty play to win the game.
