Prior to his entry into the NHL, Bobby Ryan played from 2003-2006 for the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League. From 2006-2007 he played for the Anaheim Duck's American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates. Ryan also played a portion of the 2008-2009 season for the Ducks's farm affiliate, Iowa Chops, due to team salary caps when veteran right wing Teemu Selanne returned to the team.http://www.athletepromotions.com/athletes/Bobby-Ryan-appearance-booking-agent.php
Regarding his name, Bobby Ryan was born, Robert Shane Stevenson. Due to his father's flight from justice from aggravated assault charges, the family changed their name, and young Robert became Bobby Ryan.
