Bobby McCray

Bobby McCray is a defensive end for the Saints, an NFL team that plays in New Orleans. McCray has been with the team since 2008. During his first season with the Saints, McCray was a sometimes-starter for the team, but he has typically been used as a backup. http://neworleanssaints.com/Team/Roster/People/Bobby%20McCray.aspx Because starting end Charles Grant is out inured, McCray, now in his second year with the team, is expected to start the Super Bowl XLIV against the Indianapolis Colts. He is known as a pass-rushing specialist, though his ability against the run is less proven.http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/7006/report-saints-enter-playoffs-without-grant

McCray's first years with in the NFL were with the Jacksonville Jaguars, with whom he played from 2004 to 2007. The Jaguars selected him in the final round of the 2004 NFL Draft after having payed at the University of Florida. As he has with the Saints, McCray started periodically with the Jaguars. He had his best year in 2006, when he had ten sacks and 30 tackles in 15 games.

2009/10 Season

McCray had a quiet year for most of the 2009/10 season. He didn't start any games, after being the starter eight times last season. After tallying 6 sacks in 2008/09, he managed only 1.5 this year. However, because of an injury to starter Charles Grant, McCray has started in the playoffs, and will be on the first team against the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/teams/depth?team=nor&formationId=16

However, McCray did make news for the wrong reasons on a couple of occasions. On December 29, he was arrested for drunk driving at 4:30 in the morning, after he refused to take a breathalyzer exam.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4779216 He then complicated the situation further by posting messages on his Twitter page making fun of New Orleans police with regard to the arrest. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4783341

During the NFC Championship Game against the Minnesota Vikngs, McCray was fined $20,000 for a pair of illegal hits on Viking quarterback Brett Favre.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2009/news/story?id=4868880 McCray also made news the previous week for a brutal block on Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner. http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2010/01/bobby_mccrays_block_on_kurt_wa.html
