  • Career

    Flay dropped out of high school at 17 after he was permanently suspended. Flay took a position at Joe Allen Restaurant. Allen was impressed with Flay's ability in the kitchen and paid for him to attend the French Culinary Institute. He began working as a sous-chef after graduating in 1984.

    Bobby Flay has hosted six shows on the Food Network, FoodNation, Boy Meets Grill, BBQ with Bobby Flay, [[Throwdown! with Bobby Flay]], Hot Off the Grill with Bobby Flay, and Eatin' & Chillin'.

    Flay is also the owner and executive chef of five restaurants, Mesa Grill and Bar Americain in New York City, Mesa Grill in Las Vegas, Mesa Grill, Bahamas, and Bobby Flay Steak.

    Flay established The Bobby Flay Scholarship in 2003 which, is a full scholarship to the French Culinary Institute that awarded annually to a student in the Long Island City Culinary Arts Program.
