At age 13 Bobbi Brown had a dream to look like the supermodel Cheryl Tiegs. She was in love with the look at Tiegs had, with the thin, blue eyes, amazing makeup and blond hair. Tiegs was said to be the epitome of beauty in the 1960’s. Brown states that she couldn’t of looked any more different from Tiegs and she spent a lot of time sitting and dwelling on that fact. She claims to of realized her own beauty when she saw Ali MacGraw in Love Story. She says that this movie, and this actress effected not only how she saw her own beauty but the beauty of other women and seeing this lead her to the career or being a makeup artist.

Brown began her love of cosmetics at an early age when she came across her mother’s make up collection. This passion for makeup that Brown had followed her through her teenage years and lead her to attend Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. After Brown graduated she relocated to New York City where she hoped to fulfill her dreams being a professional makeup artist. Bobbi Brown attended Emerson college in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated with a degree in theatrical makeup. In 1991, she released a line of lipstick under the brand name Bobbi Brown Essentials. The company was then purchased by Estee Lauder in 1995.

Brown is the exclusive beauty editor of The Today Show. She has written the books Bobbi Brown Beauty, Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty, and Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution and is a regular guest on E! Brown started a charity called Dress for Success where she gives underprivileged women high end clothing to wear to job interviews.
