Bob Weir & RatDog

  • Bob Weir & RatDog is a rock band created by guitarist Bob Weir and bassist Rob Wasserman. Weir, who played guitar for legendary jam band The Grateful Dead, had played with Wasserman since the 1980s, but RatDog was formed in 1995 when the Dead disbanded after Jerry Garcia's death. Though they do play some original material, RatDog shows include Grateful Dead classics and cover songs. The band often performs with special guests, which have included Bruce Hornsby, Trey Anastasio of Phish, Dicky Betts and Warren Haynes of The Allman Brothers Band, John Popper of Blues Traveler, and many others.

In 2003, Wasserman was replaced by Robin Sylvester on bass. Guitarist Mike Karan was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2007 and had to stop performing with RatDog to undergo treatment.
