  • Golf Career

    Rosburg was a memeber of the Stanfor University golf team while attending college and helped the team win the national championship in 1946. He joined the PGA Tour in 1953 and won his first tournament the following year. In 1957, Rosburg was awarded the Vardon Trophy, awarded by the PGA Tour for the best scoring average.

    He retired from the tour in 1974 and signed on with ABC to provide commentary for golf broadcasts. Before Rosburg, announcers sat in a tower to call a tournament, but Rosburg was the first commentator to call from the course itself.ESPN.com: Rosburg, Ex-PGA Champ, Dies at 82
