Bob Peterson is the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Pixar's animated film Up. He was also the co-director of the film and provided the voices of characters Dug and Alpha. Peterson was previously nominated for his screenplay for Finding Nemo. He has also been involved with several other Pixar films including Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Monsters, Inc., A Bug's Life, Toy Story and Toy Story 2.
Peterson was born in 1961 in Wooster, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio Northern University, studying mechanical engineering. During his studies, he took computer graphics courses. He earned a master's in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1986. While in school, he created a cartoon strip called "Loco Motive." Peterson was nominated for an Oscar for the second time for his work on Pixar's animated feature, Up. Peterson was co-director for the film along with Pete Docter. Peterson also helped write the screenplay and provided voices for two characters. Up won Golden Globe Awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Score. The film received five Academy Award nominations including Best Picture. Up is only the second animated film in the history of the Oscars to receive the nomination. It also received a nomination as Best Animated Feature.
