Music legend Bob Dylan has been a strong presence in the cultural and rock & roll scene since his first performances in the early 1960s. His long and varied career has been documented by several feature films, hundreds of live performances, documentaries, and interviews. This page will chronicle the videos that make up Dylan's enigmatic and revolutionary career.
Perhaps Dylan's most famous and easily recognizable video is the black-and-white single shot that opens D.A. Pennebaker's documentary Don't Look Back. The video features the song "Subterranean Homesick Blues" and a young Dylan holding a series of cards displaying the lyrics.

Live Performances
Many of Dylan's most famous live performances have been caught on film, most notably his 1965 performance of "Maggie's Farm" at the Newport Folk Festival and his May 17, 1966 concert at Manchester's Free Trade Hall. Both of these performances are chronicled in the 2005 Martin Scorsese documentary No Direction Home. -
Film Appearances
Bob Dylan has appeared in several films since the 1960s. He has a supporting role as "Alias" in Sam Peckinpah's Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. In 1987, he starred as rock star Billy Parker in Richard Marquand's Hearts of Fire. He co-wrote the script (though uncredited) and starred as folk legend Jack Fate in the 2003 film Masked and Anonymous. Dylan's boldest foray into filmmaking was the 1978 film Renaldo and Clara, written and directed by Dylan, and co-starring his first wife, Sara. -

- Dylan had performed at the Newport Folk Festival in both 1963 and 1964. Both sets included Dylan on an acoustic guitar playing his earlier folk and politically-charged ballads. The 1965 performance introduced electric Dylan to his previously adoring fans. You can hear the boos in the high quality version of the video in Scorsese's No Direction Home.
