Blush is a usually red or pink pigmented cosmetic used to add color to the skin, especially in the cheek area.
Types
There are five types of blush available on the market, the type you choose should depend on your skin type.
Powdered blushes are dry blushes with a high color density. They are great for people with oily skin.
Cream blushes also have a high color density. They can be applied with fingers and are great for people with dry skin.
Shimmer blushes are blushes that have a glittery or shimmery element. These do not need to be applied to the cheeks they can even be applied around lips or eye lids.
Gel and tint blushes are fast drying blushes that should be applied and blended quickly. Because they are so fast drying they do not work well with dry skin.
Tips on Finding Your Color
- Choose a color that matches your natural blush.
- Try and somewhat match it with the color lipstick you usually wear.
- Some people like to have a day blush with a subtle tone for work and an evening tone with a deeper color for evenings out.
Application
Apply with a brush or fingers on the apple of the cheek when you are smiling. Gently sweeping upward towards the forehead around the eye. If the color is too bright blend it a little more until it looks natural. For a more natural look apply a little in other areas of the face as well, such as the nose, chin and forehead.
