Blue Films are a common name for Indian based pornographic videos of amateur quality, often taped without the knowledge of the participants, or under economic pressure. The name "Blue Film" is mostly used in India and surrounding countries. Photos of the two well-known actresses were superimposed on the bodies of other women, placing them in compromising situations.These photos were then spread by MMS. A photo of Malavika was spread when she had just gotten married, showing her barely clothed, kissing an unknown man. The photo turned out to have been fabricated, but the picture caused a scandal in India.

Namitha has been the center of at least two MMS scandals. One featuring Namitha in several compromising acts, which was dismissed as a bad fabrication, portraying a woman not with minimal resemblance to Namitha. As the public accepted the fact the footage was fake, Namitha gained much attention and publicity because of the scandal. Later, a second short video emerged, showing Namitha changing clothes in a caravan. Whether this video is authentic or not has not been established.

The Online Blue Film scene is lively, and many many short videos have been uploaded to Peer-to-Peer networks, but most are very short and unrevealing, instead trying to lure viewers to shady for-pay websites.
