Blue Cheer

  • Blue Cheer is a '60s blues-based, psychedelic rock band. Their famously heavy cover of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" was featured in the 2005 documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, a seminal film which cemented the group's reputation as one of the first heavy metal bands.

Formed in 1967, constant lineup changes led Blue Cheer to break up by the early '70s after their 6th album, Oh! Pleasant Hope. However, the band reformed and began performing regularly and releasing albums again in the '80s. They continue to tour and record today.
