Blanche Lincoln

  • Blanche Lincoln is the senior Democratic Senator from Arkansas.

    On August 1, 2008, Lincoln joined the other nine members of the bipartisan Gang of 10 in proposing a bill aimed at solving the nation's energy crisis. Among other stipulations, the bill would allow for drilling off the coast of the Eastern United States following state approval and encourage automotive manufacturers to develop alternative fuel-powered vehicles.

  • Political Career

    After earning a degree in law from the University of Arkansas, Lincoln worked for Arkansas Representative Bill Alexander. In 1992, she defeated Alexander on her way to take over the first district seat in the House. Lincoln was elected to the Senate in 1998 at the age of 38.

    Lincoln is a member of four Senate committees:

    1. Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry
    2. Energy and Natural Resources
    3. Finance
    4. Special Committee on Aging
