"Hillbilly Bone'' Wins 2010 Vocal Event of the Year
Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins have been named as two of the 2010 Country Music Award show performers. The Shelton/Adkins duo is named as performing together which may mean they will perform the song for which they earned a nomination for and won the 2010 ACM for Vocal Event of the Year. The song “Hillbilly Bone” is the feature track on Shelton’s new album and features Trace Adkins as a guest singer. The 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 18th at 8pm EST/PT airing delayed. CBS network will air the event.
The ACM awards began in 1966 as a way of recognizing the talent which had occurred in the genre over the past year. The first televised event was in 1972 and the show has been growing ever since. Airing began on ABC, passed through NBC, and is now handled by CBS. The event is a Dick Clark Production and is part of a week of country music galas and performances in Las Vegas. This year, on Monday April 19, after the ACM Country music awards are over, key country musicians will pay tribute to the most awarded duo in the history of the ACM through a televised event called ACM Presents: “Brooks & Dunn - The Last Rodeo”. The tribute to Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn kicks off their final tour before retiring and will be taped in Las Vegas for later airing in May 2010. Proceeds from the All Star Concert will support Lifting Lives, ACM’s charity arm. http://www.acmcountry.com/awards/infocalendar.php http://www.acmcountry.com/liftinglives/index.php
Blake Shelton's Career
Country music star Blake Shelton was born June 18, 1976, in Ada, Oklahoma. He was a songwriter as a teenager and entered his first singing competition at age 8 when his mother entered him in a talent show competing against all girls. Shelton didn’t take the stage again for a number of years but when he did, his songwriting skills were seen. At 17, on the advice of Mae Boren Axton songwriter for "Heartbreak Hotel", Shelton packed his bags and moved to Nashville to start a career in music. Three years later, on his self titled album, his debut single “Austin” reached the number one billboard slot and held on for five weeks tying Billy Ray Cyrus for longest debut single holding the top spot.http://www.cmt.com/artists/az/shelton_blake/bio.jhtml http://www.thatscountry.com/Artists/BlakeShelton/bio.htm
