Blake Mycoskie is the Founder of TOM’s Shoes, Inc. TOM’s is a corporation that was launched in 2006 and attempts to give shoes to children who have none all over the world, based on giving a pair of shoes for every pair of shoes sold. Blake Mycoskie received the ‘’ACE Award’’ for his ‘’TOM’s program which he started in 2006 as a way to provide shoes to the children in Argentina and then grew the idea to be worldwide. He knew that he wanted to attempt to provide shoes for the children that he had seen walking barefoot and he did not want a charity, so he formed a company that would use the purchase on one shoe to provide one show for a needy child. Life and Career
Blake lives on his sailboat in Santa Monica . He has started five companies since his graduation from college. TOM’s has become his focus. On April 8, 2010, Blake asked everyone to go barefoot for “A Day Without Shoes”. This will remind people that there are people all over the world that do not have shoes and must go barefoot on a daily basis.
Blake and his sister, Paige were contestants on The Amazing Race reality show on CBS and were very close to being named the winner. That one idea led to a company that grew to a company with 40 employees and 8 trucks servicing the Southwest. The company called EZ Laundry eventually was sold to his business partner.
