The Blackfoot people are broken down into four groups, the North Peigan, Blackfeet or South Peigan, Kainai Nation and Siksika Nation. The South Peigan are found in Montana, while the other three are located in Alberta, Canada. The Blackfoot located within the US were given a reservation in 1887, as noted in the Sweetgrass Hills Treaty. The Canadian Blackfoot were awarded their on reservation in 1877. It is located in southern Alberta.
Blackfoot Descendants
Some of today's celebrities are descendants of the Blackfoot. They include Nick and Aaron Carter, Ananda Lewis, Sole, Mykelti Williamson, Tyson Tomko, Kiri Davis, Jonathan Brewer, Blackie Lawless and Rickey Medlocke.
Buffalo Hunts
The Blackfoot's main source of food was buffalo and for half of the year they would follow the herds. Occasionally, more then one group of people would camp together if there was an abundance wood and food available. They continued their yearly hunting rituals until 1881, when the buffalo population decreased so dramatically that they were hard to find.
