    Brighthand appreciated the addition of a camera and media player, unlike previous BlackBerry models. Laptop Magazine liked the addition of a GPS system as well as the high quality photos from the camera. Digital Trends thought the idea of a customizable home screen was a plus, especially as a way to move the keypad lock to a more accessible place.

    CNET disliked the placement of the memory card behind the battery and the lack of external media controls and WiFi capability. PC Magazine felt the keys were difficult to press. InfoSync complained of difficulty using the track ball and a sharp learning curve with the on screen menus.
