Black Mamba Snakes

Categories: Animals | Nature | Science | Reptiles
  • Black Mambas are a long, venomous variety of snake indigenous to East and Southern Africa. They are one of the largest snakes in the world, second only to the King Cobra. Black Mamba Snakes are generally thought of as the most deadliest snake in the world, though trusted resources such as National Geographic are quick to point out that these snakes have taken on a legendary mystique and that the "deadliest snake" claim is based on speculation, rather than on an empirical measurement of speed, size, or venom. Despite their reputation as a vicious predator, the mamba prefers to hide and escape during a confrontation. The snake gets its name from the black and blue coloration on the inside of its mouth.
