• Black Hawk Down is a war film based on a true story depicting the Battle of Mogadishu, a part of the U.S. military's 1993 campaign in Mogadishu, Somalia to capture Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid.
  • Plot

    The film follows a mixed assault force composed of Delta Force, Army Rangers and Special Operations Aviation Regiment as they attempt to capture two of Mohammed Farrah Aidid's senior lieutenants from deep within Mogadishu's notorious Bakaara Market. Led by Maj Gen William Garrison the mission was supposed to take no more than 1 hour. However, despite the successful extraction by the Delta Force, the Somali militia, armed with RPGs, shot down two Black Hawk helicopters. The subsequent rescue of the wounded soldiers extends the mission to over 15 hours. 19 Americans and approximately 1000 Somalis died in the conflict.
