Also performing at the event alongside the Black Eyed Peas were other leading American Musicians, such as "John Legend" and "Alicia Keys". Africa was represented heavily due to the World Cup being staged there for the first time in 2010. African performers included "Angelique Kidjo", "Amadou & Mariam", "BLK JKS", "The Parlotones", "Tinariwen", "Vieux Farka Touré" and "Vusi Mahlasela". Also in appearance were two Colombian musicians, world famous Shakira was joined by fellow Colombian, Juanes.
The Black Eyed Peas have performed in many similar concerts before. Examples include performing on the Live Earth event on July 7, 2007 at Wembley Stadium. The band performed live at the Grammys on January 31, 2010, winning three of the six categories nominated for.

The Black Eyed Peas are a band which originated in Los Angeles in 1995 when band members Will.I.Am, Taboo and Apl.De.Ap formed the band. The Black Eyed Peas cover several genres including Hip-hop, pop, dance & R&B.
Realizing the need for a female member, the band tried to sign Nicole Scherzinger (now of the Pussycat Dolls) but failed because she was under contract. Fergie eventually secured the role, becoming the fourth band member and she has been very successful with the band.
