• Relationships with Other Heroes

  Black Canary is portrayed as a strong, independent woman who relies on her own skills and wits to deal with criminals. Even so, she could not have achieved her status without the help of other heroes. Her mother was the orginal Black Canary, and despite urging her daughter not to assume the role, she provided the inspiration and identity for her daughter to assume. She was trained in martial arts by the Black Cat, a tough-as-nails costumed hero with no superpowers but plenty of determination and ferocity. She would later marry Oliver Queen, better known as the archer hero Green Arrow. With him, she forged a strong marriage and a team of heroes known as the Birds of Prey.
