Bishop Origin
As mutants, Bishop and his sister, Shard, grew up under harsh living conditions. In their alternate future (approximately seventy years in advance of the primary Marvel Universe) mutants were forced to live in relocation camps and have their faces marked with an “M” tattoo. After an event known as The Summers Rebellion some of these practices ceased, but mutant/human relations were still strained. Bishop and Shard's grandmother would often tell them stories of the fabled X-Men who were mutant superheroes of her childhood, protecting everyone with the goal of peaceful existence for all. When Bishop and Shard came of age they decided to join the mutant police force known as Xavier Security Enforcers (X.S.E.), with Shard attaining a higher rank.http://marvel.com/universe/Bishop
One day Bishop pursued the villain known as Trevor Fitzroy through a time portal. He ended up in the present day Marvel Universe. Though he did catch Fitzroy, there was no discernible way for Bishop to return to his own time. He decided to stay and purposed himself to avert the tragedies that befell the time-line in which he was raised. He met and at Professor Xavier's invitation joined the X-Men, the heroes of his grandmother's stories. At first he was starstruck, but, he eventually became a vital member of the mutant superhero team alongside established heroes such as Cyclops and Wolverine.http://marvel.com/universe/Bishop
