Birkenstock is a German shoe company founded by Margot Fraser over 40 years ago. The original Birkenstocks were manufactured in Germany by Konrad Birkenstock in 1897.
Fraser started importing Birkenstocks to the United States in 1966. The company grew quickly and customers soon requested more styles.
Today, Birkenstock produces many different styles, colors and shapes, but still reflects that old world charm with the classic form fitting, hand crafted sandal or clog that can be worn with or without socks.
