The Biotronic Facebook game is a "match 3" puzzle game developed by Metro Games. Players will need a Facebook account to play this game. Biotronic was first released in November, 2008 and is a browser based game, requiring no downloads or installation to play.
In late 2009, Biotronic was featured in a number of top 20 games for Facebook lists http://thelionsweb.wordpress.com/2009/12/09/top-10-facebook-games/http://segmentnext.com/index.php/2009/11/01/best-20-most-popular-games-facebook/.
The game is a "match 3" genre game as it is similar in many aspects to other Facebook games such as Bejeweled Blitz, Bricks Breaking and Jungle Jewelshttp://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=40343401983. In match 3 games, the player's task is to match three identical pieces on the screen. In order to indicate the identical pieces, the player usually has to swap them with the neighboring ones or place them together by just clicking.
The basic game strategy of Biotronic is to create matches of 3 or more like colored "biotronics" before the power bar runs out of energy. If you achieve maximum energy you can advance to the next level. There are three modes of play in Biotronic:
- Play mode
- Practice mode and
- Challenge mode
Within the Biotronic Facebook Group is a link to initiate the Biotronic Application, simply click on the Biotronic icon at the top left of the screen or on the "Go to Application" button and Biotronic will be launched http://apps.facebook.com/biotronic/.
Gameplay
There are 3 modes of play, these are:
- Play mode
- Practice mode and
- Challenge mode
For the majority of players the "play mode" will be the most used option. To enter play mode you simply click on the play button from the home page of Biotronichttp://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=27178406486.
To play you need to match groups of 3 and match the biotronic color/patterns . Once matched, the Biotronics will disappear and other biotronics will fall from the top to fill in the gaps. When you match Biotronics you will receive both energy and points. Sometimes chain reactions can be triggered, where chains are formed by the falling Biotronics, if this occurs it can be quite lucrative. Chains of more than 3 have special characteristics, chains of 4 become a bomb and chains of 5 will become multicolored. Chains of 4 or 5 score higher points and energy.
Once the power bar is at 100% for any level you can pass to the next level. As you progress through the levels you will find that energy depletes much quicker and that chains can be harder to build. If your power level reaches 0% on any level then you will instantly die.
If you select practice mode, the gameplay is exactly the same except you can never die, energy never gets to 0%! Practice mode is ideal to practice levels you fail on in play mode. It's often better to practice than die for real in play mode.
If you like to play against your friends then Challenge mode may be a good option for you. Gameplay is identical to play mode, both players complete their game and the Biotronic application informs both players who won afterwards. Statistics on win/losses are then maintained and updated.
