BioTherapy

A search on Biotherapy will present you with two very different usages of the term. Western Medical research refers to biotherapy as: “Biotherapy is the use of living organisms to diagnose, treat or cure disease or disease symptoms”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biotherapy.

On the other hand Alternative Medicine refers to it as: "Biotherapy is any form of treatment that uses the body's natural abilities to fight infection and disease or to protect the body from some of the side effects of treatment"http://islanddruid.shorturl.com/.

Western Medical Research:

In western medicines the use of biological organisms has been use for 100s of years. These include but are not limited to:

Alternative Medicine:

Biotherapy works on every level - mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. In an era when many folk remedies are being rediscovered and the use of natural substances is increasingly popular, Biotherapy aims to support and help the human body by restoring its natural functions in the treatment of human diseases without drugs and invasive therapies. It is also known as alternative medicine or natural medicine. Biotherapy is also known as Bio-energy Therapy.

These natural therapies, natural products, and physical practices all of which work on the body’s bio-energy systems, include but are not limited to:

Bio-energy System

Bio-energy therapy is related to the body’s natural energy source and development. The human body is a biological energy creating system, creating energy on both a chemical and electrical level. Bio-energy can be measured at the cellular level, and supports cognitive, autonomic and dynamic human biological functioning.http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=14194414

There are different types of bio-energy that is associated with the human body, being produced to support and give life to the human biological system. The following is a partial list of bio-energy related systems and functions in the human body.

Bio-energy and EMF

EMF (electromagnetic fields), are electromagnetic energy fields that that many of the electronic devices we use emit. Scientific research has been carried out to see what effect that EMF has on the human biological system and in particular the bio-energy system. http://bioenergy.timleitch.net.nz/energies/about_emf.htm

Devices such as computers, cell phones, radio, wireless phones, video cameras and a huge list of other devices all emit EMF. The most powerful sources are the power lines that run across the continent; these emit very strong EMF’s.

The research and effect (or degree of effect) is debated by various researchers, institutions and government health ministries. There have been studies that show strong correlation of EMF to cancer and other diseases, (disputed) and there are studies showing minimal effects.

A quote from the National Cancer Institute is an example of the dilemma and some double speak.

“Several studies conducted in the 1980s and early 1990s reported that people who worked in some electrical occupations (such as power station operators and phone line workers) had higher than expected rates of some types of cancer, particularly leukemia, brain tumors, and male breast cancer (2). Some occupational studies showed very small increases in risk for leukemia and brain cancer, but these results were based on job titles and not actual measurements. More recently conducted studies that have included both job titles and individual exposure measurements have no consistent finding of an increasing risk of leukemia, brain tumors, or female breast cancer with increasing exposure to magnetic fields at work”http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/magnetic-fields

And in another quote:

“Animal studies have not found that magnetic field exposure is associated with increased risk of cancer (2). The absence of animal data supporting carcinogenicity makes it biologically less likely that magnetic field exposures in humans, at home or at work, are linked to increased cancer risk.” http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/magnetic-fields

It is advisable that if you are concerned about EMF’s, it would probably be best you do some extensive fact finding and weigh all research into the effects of EMF.
