BioShock is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2K for the Xbox 360 and PS3 gaming consoles as well as for the PC. In it, players assume the role of a lone survivor who stumbles upon the entrance to Rapture, a failed underwater utopia that was originally built to house the world’s greatest minds and allow them to pursue their goals without any interference.
Unfortunately, the introduction of gene altering substances known as plasmids combined with an amassing rebellion against Rapture’s militant founder, Andrew Ryan, results in massive chaos. War eventually rips the entire city apart and the citizens who remain are no less than monsters wandering the streets searching for Adam, a type of enhancement drug that grants the user almost limitless power, but at the cost of their humanity.
Big Daddy
One of the games most fearsome class of enemy are the imposing Big Daddies, giant roaming men who wear antique diving suits retrofitted with drills, rail guns, and other heavy weapons. They are the protectors of Little Sisters, young girls who harvest a special chemical called ADAM from the lifeless bodies of people who have been genetically modified. Though the Big Daddies are tough, they are not unbeatable. The trick to beating them is to prepare for the battle by loading up on ammunition for heavy weapons, and to lure the Big Daddies into an area that has been prepared to trap them. Areas with many hacked turrets or explosive canisters are ideal for this purpose.
