The Story of Plasmids
Initially developed by Ryan Industries, plasmids were intended to improve the lives of the citizens of the underwater city Rapture by turning them into godlike creatures. Unfortunately, Rapture-dwellers soon learned that too much splicing (using plasmids) lead to deformity and dementia in the people who overused, who came to be called splicers. Soon the two parties vying for control of Rapture, Andrew Ryan and the criminal called Fontaine, had built up armies of splicers ready to do battle for dominance in Rapture. As the player character known only as Jack, players must find Gatherer's Garden machines to purchase plasmids in order to effectively fight splicers and the ominous Big Daddies. -
