The Binghamton Senators are a minor league ice hockey team playing in the East Division of the American Hockey League. The Senators began playing in Binghamton during the 2002-03 season. The franchise, which is an affiliate of the National Hockey League's Ottawa Senators, had not played since the 1995-96, when they were known as the Prince Edward Island Senators. Before the Senators moved to Binghamton, three other AHL franchises had previously played in the city. The Binghamton Dusters were the first, playing from 1977 to 1980. The Senators missed the playoffs in the 2009-10 season. They finished the year with a record of 36-35-6-3, totaling 81 points in the standings. Binghamton Senators Bench Clearing Brawl with Syracuse Crunch
On December 12, 2009, the Binghamton Senators were leading the Syracuse Crunch 4-2 after two periods when Syracuse goalie Kevin Lelande got into a shouting match with a couple of Binghamton players. All of the players from both teams came out on the ice to go to their dressing rooms. However, before they could leave the ice, a brawl broke out between the two teams.
