New York Mets closer Billy Wagner will miss the remainder of the 2008, and possibly all of the 2009 Major League Baseball season after undergoing surgery to repair an injury to his left elbow. Wagner's medial collateral ligament and flexor pronator were torn. He has not pitched for the Mets since August 3, 2008. The Mets were in first place at the time of the announcement and will probably be looking for a top free agent closer before the 2009 off-season.SI.com: Wagner needs elbow surgery, will miss all of 2009 season[ The Mets are expected to use a closer by committee with Scott Schoeneweis, Pedro Feliciano, and Aaron Heilman getting the most opportunities.MLB.com: Wagner to have surgery on left elbow
