Billy Joel is a popular Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and pianist from New York City. While Joel had some early success, it wasn't until the 1973 album Piano Man and the hit song of the same name that he began to garner the attention of music critics and fans.
In June 2009, a representative for Joel announced that he and his wife of five years, Katie Lee, have decided to separate.
