Billy Cundiff joined the Baltimore Ravens as their Kicker on November 18, 2009. After a career spanning six years, and six other teams, including: the Dallas Cowboys, the Green Bay Packers, the Atlanta Falcons, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Detroit Lions and the Cleveland Browns. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/People/Players/Under_Contract-Own_Rights/Billy_Cundiff.aspx
Cundiff also earned an MBA at Arizona State and worked for a Venture Capital Firm before signing with the Ravens. And Baltimore is grateful that he didn’t decide to forego his football career, as he instantly was endeared to the fans in a stunning performance in game 10 against their detested rivals, the Indianapolis Colts, a mere four days after signing his contract.
Billy Cundiff 2009 Season
At the start of the 2009 season, Cundiff was still playing for the Cleveland Browns. Between 5 games with Cleveland and 7 games in the regular season with Baltimore, Cundiff recorded 77 points, including 100% completion of 23 Point After Touchdowns (PAT’s) and 18 completed Field Goals out of 23 Attempts (FGA’s).http://www.baltimoreravens.com/People/Players/Under_Contract-Own_Rights/Billy_Cundiff.aspx
In game 5, while still signed with Cleveland, Cundiff posted the fourth 4th Quarter game-winning FG of his career. In total, Cundiff amassed 22 points, and a 100% conversion rate on 6 FTA’s and 4 PAT’s before being waived by the Browns on November 3, 2009.
However, Game 10 could easily be considered the highlight of Cundiff’s 2009 season, if not his career. Cundiff connected on a franchise record tying 5 FG’s in 6 attempts, including a 46-yard career best completion. He also kicked off 6 times, placing two kicks in the End Zone. Baltimore had many reasons to love their newest acquisition.
In game 11, Cundiff completed 2 PAT’s in as many attempts against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and made 2 Field Goals in 3 attempts, including his 5th career game-winning Field Goal in overtime from 29 yards. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/People/Players/Under_Contract-Own_Rights/Billy_Cundiff.aspx
