Billabong

Billabong is an Australian surf-wear clothing company founded by Gordon Merchant and Rena Merchant in Burleigh Heads of the Gold coast in 1973. Billabong made its started by selling surf style clothing, such as wetsuits, boardshorts, swimwear and accessories. The company soon branched out into all kinds of board oriented sportswear and products, including skate and snowboarding. Gordon Merchant made a huge breakthrough with his alterations to the run of the mill surfboard by constructing a tucked under edge, which helped Joe Larkins, team riders, Michael Peterson and Rabbit Barthololmew rise to to the ranks of top world surfers.

Billabong designs and produces, wetsuits, watches, surfboards, snowboards, sportswear, swimwear, outerwear and surfing apparel and accessories. Billabong caters to ages 12 years and up, with a larger focus on teenagers and young adults. The company provides full collections for both men and women.

In additional to all their apparel products, Billabong has a large division of sporting teams and events that includes surfing, skating, snowboarding and wake. These take place all across the globe.
