Billabong is an Australian surf-wear clothing company founded by Gordon Merchant and Rena Merchant in Burleigh Heads of the Gold coast in 1973. Billabong started out selling surf style clothing and accessories, but soon branched out into all kinds of board sportswear and products. Gordon Merchant made a huge breakthrough with his alterations to the run of the mill surfboard by constructing a tucked under edge, which helped Joe Larkins, team riders, Michael Peterson and Rabbit Barthololmew rise to to the ranks of top world surfers.
Billabong designs and produces, wetsuits, watches, surfboards, snowboards, board sportswear, outerwear and surfing apparel. Billabong caters to ages 12-20 and provides full collections to both men and women.
