  • Bill Withers is a popular soul and R&B singer-songwriter who had a string of hit singles through the 1970s and early 80s. Among his chart-topping singles were "Ain't No Sunshine," "Lovely Day," "Lean on Me" and "Just the Two of Us."

    Withers signed his first record contract in 1970 with Sussex Records. He signed with a major label, Columbia Records, in 1975, and left recording in 1985 to focus on his family.

    Over the course of his career, Withers has won three Grammy Awards and two NAACP Image Awards. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005.
