Bill Walker is a shooting guard for the National Basketball Association (NBA). Walker had his choice of college universities to attend, including Syracuse, Texas, Connecticut and Illinois.He ended up at Kansas State University and after an impressive sophomore year there there, he left for the 2008 draft with star teammate Michael Beasley.

In 2008, his draft year, he was considered by many to be one of the top picks in the draft. However, during a workout with the Golden State Warriors he suffered his third knee injury of his career and fell to the 47th pick.

After playing only 37 games through two seasons with the Boston Celtics that involved a few trips to the NBA Development League (D-League) and back, he was part of a five player deal to the New York Knicks in mid-February.

The Knicks received J.R. Giddens, Eddie House, and Bill Walker; for Nate Robinson and Marcus Landry. This trade was favorable for both sides, as the Celtics picked up a possible back up point guard, and the Knicks cleared salary room for a big 2010 free agent market. He quickly took to the high paced offense and averaged the best numbers of his career with 11.9 points per game, more than three times his previous high.

If the Knicks to not waive Walker by July, he will be under contract until 2012.

It is expected that the Knicks will decide to keep Walker, because he plays for such a low salary, is only 22 years old, and has a large upside. It is rare to find a 6-foot 6-inch 220lb small forward in the NBA, that has the speed and ability of Bill Walker. The injuries throughout his young career have slowed him down a bit, but his natural ability to play the game will likely keep him as a sixth man on teams for many years.
