Bill Self was named National Coach of the Year by The Sporting News and is a four-time Naismith Coach of the Year Award finalist. Self played college basketball at Oklahoma State University from 1982 to 1985. In 2008, Self led the Jayhawks to an overall record of 37-3 while winning the NCAA Championship. After the 2008 season, Self was offered the head coaching position at his alma mater Oklahoma State University, but elected to stay at Kansas.
