Bill Pullman is an American actor known for his roles in While You Were Sleeping and Independence Day.

Pullman was born in Hornell, New York, to nurse Johanna and physician James Pullman. Pullman is from British decent from his father's side and Dutch decent from his mother's side. He lost the ability to smell after an injury during college that put him in coma for two days.

In 1987, Pullman married Tamara Hurwitz, a dancer. The couple has three children. Their daughter Maisa was born in 1988. They have two sons, Jack born in 1989 and Louis born in 1993.
