Bill Orton was a Democratic congressman representing the 3rd district in Utah between 1991 and 1997. After Congress, Orton resumed his career in law. *Bill Orton for Governor: 2000 Bill Orton Campaign In 2000, Orton ran for governor with former Senator Karen Hale.
Orton died in an ATV accident on April 18, 2009. Orton's ATV flipped over in a sand dune at Utah's Little Sahara Recreation Area. Orton was 60 years old at the time of his death and is survived by his wife Jacquelyn and his two sons, Will and Wes.
