  • Bill Foster is a former businessman and physicist who is currently the Democratic House Representative for Illinois' 14th Congressional District. He won a special election in March 2008 to replace Republican Dennis Hastert, who resigned mid-term.
  • Career Before Politics

    Foster is a prize-winning physicist who completed his PhD at Harvard University in 1983. He worked with particle physics while employed with Fermilab, an official U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory. Also, he and his brother, Fred, co-own Electronic Theatre Controls, a major supplier of theater lighting equipment.
