Bill Buckner is a retired Major League Baseball player. Despite having a successful career that lasted over 20 years, he is best remembered for committing an error at first base, costing the Boston Red Sox game 6 of the 1986 World Series. During the 1986 World Series, Boston led the series with the New York Mets 3 games to 2 going into game 6. New York came back to tie the game in the 10th inning and Mookie Wilson was at the plate. Wilson hit a ground ball to first base which rolled under Buckner's glove and through his legs into right field. The error allowed Ray Knight to score the winning run.
