Bill Blass

Bill Blass was an American clothing designer with a fashion line of the same name. Founded in 1946, Blass expanded his line of womenswear to include swimwear, furs, luggage, perfume, and chocolate. By 1998 Bill Bass clothing had grown into a $700 million dollar a year business.

Bill Blass pasted away in 2002 from throat cancer. Peter Som and Michael Bastian will be taking over as the new designer for the Bill Glass label.

The Look

Bill Blass is known for its simple elegance, providing signature designs that can be worn by everyday women. Blass clothing has a timeless, yet sophisticated look, appealing to many high powered women such as first ladies, Nancy Reagon, Barbara Bush, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis as well as Candice Bergen and Brooke Astor.

Awards

Bill glass has received seven Coty awards and the Fashion Institute of Technology's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999.
